One day we went to the mall and when we got there we saw a big jungle area right in the middle of the mall. The sign said "Tigers Ahead!' Patchy was super-excited.
As we walked through the fake jungle we learned about tigers and the dangers they face from poaching. Also we learned about things people are doing to try and save the tigers.
Last year when we were in London we learnt a lot about palm oil so we already knew that the tigers were endangered because of palm oil. Big companies just burn down the rainforest without a care in the world so they can plant trees to get palm oil but tigers can't survive in Palm Forests. So their natural habitat is being destroyed. Today we learnt more about another danger for tigers called poaching. Poachers shoot the tigers for their fur, claws and teeth.
A tiger can jump 5 metres in a single bound! So I decided I wanted to try. Spoiler Alert... I couldn't.
After we learnt about tigers we got to have a turn at looking for tigers in a virtual reality jungle using special glasses.
The glasses felt really heavy. When I had the glasses on it was like I was actually in a REAL rainforest. I saw tigers, a lizard, a bird and deer.
Finn and Patchy had a turn too. Patchy was the funniest cos when he saw the tigers they were so real he kept stepping back away from them, but then leaning forward because he wanted to see them.
At the end they gave us each a soft toy tiger. Patchy said he would look after them for us.
This table had some of the things you can do to help the teams that protect the tigers.
So, Mum shared this photo on Facebook.
When I got home I did some writing about wearing the virtual reality glasses. I'll post my writing soon.
Boodle, that’s a really great adventure. I have never used virtual goggles before but I think I’d like to try.
ReplyDeleteOrlando and Fifi went to Ocean Park in Hong Kong and saw Pandas. They were really beautiful. Did you know that Orlando’s nick name is ‘Panda’? He even has a panda onesy.
I hope you are having a really great time in the UK and I look forward to hearing about more of your adventures soon.
Love Ruth, (Craig, Orlando and Fifi) XXXX
