Walk a Mile in My Shoes (by Andi)

Today we were lucky enough to take part in a project that was part of the Empathy Museum - designed to help people think about what it's like to literally walk in someone else's shoes. A Mile in My Shoes project looks like a big shoe-box. Inside the shoebox the lovely volunteer helped the boys choose shoes. Finn was given these shoes that belonged to a Native American teenager Patch was given these red shoes that belonged to an 11 year old girl. Isaac got these bright yellow crocs belonging to a 11 year old boy. Then each of the boys got given headphones and an audio player. Each audio player had a life-story being told by the previous owner of the shoes. Then the boys got to walk around Downtown Denver listening to the stories, while literally wearing that person's shoes. The Bank of England Museum

In our class at school we are learning about financial literacy with Mrs Barnes. This week is money week at my school in New Zealand. So while we're in London we thought we would go to the Bank of London Museum to find out more about money and how it works. ENGLISH BANK NOTES In this photo I am doing some puzzles putting together English Banknotes. In England they don't have dollars they have pounds. On each banknote they have a picture on the front and a different famous person on the back. Each one also has protection also known as security features. Each note has different features. The features stop bad people from being able to make fake notes because they are hard to copy. Here Finny is holding a 20 pound note from Mum's wallet under the UV light. A Virtual Reality Jungle

One day we went to the mall and when we got there we saw a big jungle area right in the middle of the mall. The sign said "Tigers Ahead!' Patchy was super-excited. As we walked through the fake jungle we learned about tigers and the dangers they face from poaching. Also we learned about things people are doing to try and save the tigers. Last year when we were in London we learnt a lot about palm oil so we already knew that the tigers were endangered because of palm oil. Big companies just burn down the rainforest without a care in the world so they can plant trees to get palm oil but tigers can't survive in Palm Forests. So their natural habitat is being destroyed. Today we learnt more about another danger for tigers called poaching. Poachers shoot the tigers for their fur, claws and teeth. A tiger can jump 5 metres in a single bound!
